Little things about TPM that I absolutely love: the fact that in this scene, Obi-Wan turns around first.
Obi-Wan turns first. It’s not Anakin prompting him, asking for a commitment, asking for reassurance. Anakin is uncertain and sad and lonely and afraid as heck - of course he doesn’t feel comfortable enough to approach, to ask, to make a move.
Obi-Wan does the reaching.
And I LOVE that fact, I love it for what it says about him; that he is going to do right by this child, if it’s the last thing he does, if it kills him. Not after the funeral is over. Not tomorrow. Not after he gets himself together. Now. Right fucking now.
The moment he decides to turn is the moment he assumes responsibility. Nobody makes him do it. No one tells him to turn around; he doesn’t have to address the child - the Council isn’t going to prompt him; Anakin isn’t going to say a word - but Obi-Wan, in the grip of what is always going to be one of the worst moments of his life, pushes forward and lashes himself together and says now, right now, NOW, and does it anyway.
I will never not see that as a colossal act of courage.
His Padawan’s attitude only sets to agitate him further.”If you remembered it from the last time, there wouldn’t be a this time, would there?”
glancing at his rather irate passenger, he sighs very briefly. ❛ yes, master. ❜ a pause, and he knows that obi-wan expects him to promise it won't happen again. but instead, he half-smiles and dips the speeder abruptly, twirling around once———-and then setting it upright again, narrowly missing one very confused alien driver in the next lane over. there. now he can say, with all the honesty of a jedi knight, ❛ it won’t happen again, master. ❜ he smiles.
(Blog for which Anakin? Sith Anakin or Good Anakin?)
this blog is like, 98% good anakin, but i’m most certainly not opposed to playing sith anakin because angst and also character development for the worst are my favorite things to write. insert masochistic laugh.
but yes, by default–i do play good anakin!… with a couple of streaks of mischief in him because i’m used to playing morally gray characters and outright villains tbh. 8)
While I’m 99.9% sure you’re all just lost, I’m not going to point you in the right direction ——— I’m so thankful for your presence, your continued support, your kind words towards my portrayal of Han, and my writing in general… and this has truly been one muse, that has been worth all of those failed attempts and bouts of problems I’ve sustained in the roleplay community, prior to this. I adore every last one of you, and the positivity that has amounted, has been far beyond my expectations.
But without getting further into this gushy talk, I’m going to continue on with the main concept of this: appreciation for those who have been me on this journey thus far, and this will be long enough as it is, so I won’t ramble on anymore !
You’re all lovely, however, and you all have truly given me a reason to smile every day. THANK YOU. Here’s to many more future opportunities, for me to go on about how much I love you guys, and how fantastic you all really are. This is in no particular order after the first section, and I apologize in advance for anybody that is forgotten. I tried my hardest to remember everyone, but it’s too early for this, and I’m sure my mind blanked. This is also cut for length.
the presence of this boy almost makes his knees buckle under. the force … is undoubtedly very strong with this one. but—-there is also sᴏᴍᴇᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇʟsᴇ about him. as though anakin should know him. and yet he has never laid eyes on him prior to this moment. curious.
she’ll just glare up at him icily, wondering how to respond that doesn’t end up landing her in jail. of course, her abilities might not be able to worm her way out of this, but there’s also no way she’ll just lie down and go back to a prison. ”i take you for a guy who feels the need t’come on after someone who’s hardly a threat t’the balance.”
her next words make him stop with curiosity, his eyes widening and his eyebrows flicking up———-as if to say, you reallydon’t know, do you? so, when he speaks, his voice is as master-ish as possible. ❛ on the contrary, all it takes for dark side to take root in one’s soul—-is a small act of dishonesty. like lying to one’s mother or friend, ❜ his eyes flicker to the credits she is still struggling to hide in her pocket, ❛ –or taking money which one does not, in the first place, own. ❜
